Sydney and Santa... Ho, ho, ho!

It's become a tradition for us to join our KATV family on Christmas Eve on Good Morning Arkansas. Why? Because Santa always shows up!! Here's one of the clips from that morning...enjoy! Hope you all had a merry Christmas!

Cancer Fighters

I recently had the chance to speak to the Cancer Fighters Support Group at Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock. What an amazing group of people!!! I shared my own story about how cancer has affected my family... grandmother, grandfather, and uncle all survived bouts with cancer but it took my dad's life after a six-month battle in June of 2005. It's still very difficult for me to talk about and I'm so grateful to the group for shedding tears with me! I'm so glad that every "Cancer Fighter" there has a great support group to lean on!!!

Organizer Lonnie Gibbons... his wife made him wear the hat. LOVE IT!!!

Not A Great Skater But So Excited For The Ice Rink!

Growing up in South Dakota, I got to put on ice skates every winter...but it's probably been ten years since I've been on a pair of blades! So much fun to skate again... and not nearly as cold as it was in SD!!

Bells Will Be Ringing!

I had the privilege of gathering with some of the local female TV anchors to help kick-off the Salvation Army's Red Kettle campaign this morning! Sydney and I put on our red and rang the first bells of the season. Sydney was a little scared at first...but once they gave her own bell to ring, she was very excited!

Please drop off any amount of money you can whenever you walk by a bell-ringer...this is the Salvation Army's biggest fundraiser of the year. If you really want to help, you can volunteer to be a bell-ringer! Just call the Central Arkansas Area Command at 501-374-9296 or log onto www.volunteerfirst.org.

Beach Pics

I know summer is now behind us but I just had to share some of my favorite pics from our summer trip to the beach. We met my husband's sister and her family there and they have three little girls so we had four girls under the age of 5 to chase after! (Which is why we also brought along our babysitter, Andrea.) It was so much fun!!! Hope you enjoy!!

Dancing to Help Those With NF

I recently had the chance to participate in a Dancing With OUR Stars event in Little Rock. It all raises money for the Children's Tumor Foundation in Arkansas which helps fund the NF Clinic at Arkanas Children's Hospital. NF is short for neurofibromatosis which is one of the most common neurological disorders yet most people, including many doctors, have never heard of it. Hopefully fundraisers like this one can help others learn more about it. Click here for more information. (Thanks to my dear friend, Sandra, for recording this on my I-phone...and for cheering me on!!)

First Hair Cut!

We have been letting Sydney's hair just grow since she was born but we finally decided to get her a trim. She did not enjoy it!! Usually she really likes my hairdresser, Joel, but not when he's got scissors in his hands and trying to cut her curls! She was fine afterward...but definitely made it known that she did not want anyone messing with her hair!! Too cute!! Thanks, Joel...and sorry!!

She started out so excited to be there!!

Then she started to get a little worried...

She wanted to hold on to her hair so I had to hold on to her hands.

"Make him stop, Mom!"

She was fine after it was over... And checked out her new look!

Dancing on GMA

Jason Pederson and I did some dancing on Good Morning Arkansas Monday morning to help promote an event we'll be participating in on Thursday night. It's called "Dancing with Our Stars" and it raises money for the Arkansas branch of the Children's Tumor Foundation which helps fund the Neurofibromatosis (of NF) Clinic at Arkansas Children's Hospital.

Check it out!!

Little Rock Family Article

Check out the wonderful article Little Rock Family did on my sweet family. They did such a great job! To be honest, Sydney was not very cooperative when they were trying to get photos of all of us...so I was so thrilled to see the pics turn out as well as they did.
Click here to see the entire article.
Thanks so much LRF!!!

Placerville Family Camp

Placerville is a church camp in the Black Hills of South Dakota. As a child, my family went to the family camp every year. My mom and sisters all still live in South Dakota and go every year but I haven't been back in more than a decade. This place means so much to my family that when my dad died (five years ago) there was a plaque and beautiful, peaceful area dedicated to him. This past July, I finally got to return to camp and introduce Sydney to everyone. The best part was that my mom had no idea we'd be showing up! My sisters help set the surprise up and the expression on her face was priceless when we surprised her!!

Me and my girl!

I loved this moment! It's almost as if Sydney knows that this is in honor of her grandpa!!!

Dancing with OUR Stars

Hi all!
Just wanted to invite all of you to an upcoming event that includes me putting on my dance shoes...yikes!! It's a fundraiser for the NF (neurofibromatosis) Clinic at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and the Arkansas Chapter of the Children’s Tumor Foundation. I have been teamed up with a professional ballroom dancer from Arthur Murray Dance Studio, Jeremiah, and we'll be doing the Cha Cha. So much fun! Please consider attending the event...or you can also donate $5 to the cause and vote for us online. What a fun way to raise money for a great cause.
Thanks so much!!!

Here's the official letter regarding the event:

Friends of Christina:

I am writing to you on behalf of Christina Muñoz who has volunteered her valuable time to participate in our upcoming Gala, “Dancing with OUR Stars.” The Gala will benefit the NF (neurofibromatosis) Clinic at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and the Arkansas Chapter of the Children’s Tumor Foundation.

As you may have guessed, YES, Christina will be dancing at our upcoming event - and she will be competing against fellow reporter, Jason Pederson, along with four other ‘Stars,’ including Scott Landers, Dr. Rolla Shbarou and Leslie Godwin. Each dancer will be paired with a professional from Arthur Murray Dance Studio and will compete against the other teams in a race to win the “crown.” Christina has dedicated her time and energy for this event and we hope you will help her get to the winner’s circle. This event is similar to a popular television program; however, there are some distinct differences. One major difference is the winner will be determined by the number of votes collected both at the event and prior to the event. Each vote is a donation of only $5.00, and Christina would very much appreciate your support. Every vote counts!

We ask that you consider participating in our event to help the children of Arkansas by casting your tax deductable vote. Votes may be cast online at www.ctfarkansas.org by using a credit card, or you may write a check payable to the Children’s Tumor Foundation and mail to Children’s Tumor Foundation, PO Box 7262, Little Rock, AR 72217. Be sure to indicate who you are voting for. Votes sent via U.S. Mail must be received by September 13 in order to be counted for the event and on-line voting closes September 13. For more information about the event or to purchase tickets to attend and see Christina dance in person, visit www.ctfarkansas.org (limited seating available).

Please don’t delay, send your vote(s) today and show your support for Christina to make it to the winner’s circle. We will be watching for your reply.

Kindest regards,
Lesley Oslica

Ballerina Girl

Sydney is very "girly"...she LOVES dressing up in her ballet outfits. Especially her tutu! She runs around saying "Tutu, tutu, tutu!!" I have several friends in that are ballerinas/dancers and they all made sure that Sydney had pink tights, a leotard, ballet shoes, and of course a tutu. The only problem is she never wants to take them off!!

El Faro

This is one of my favorite places in La Serena, Chile. It's called "El Faro" which means the lighthouse. It's right on the beach and is a well-known landmark. My husband and I had an outdoor wedding ceremony there nine years ago (hard to believe it's been that long ago!). Even though it's wintertime, it was still nice enough to walk on the beach. Sydney loved it! She now speaks a little Spanish and she kept yelling "agua" and running toward the ocean. So precious!!
